After studying economics at RWTH Aachen University and the University of Cologne, Werner Baumann began his career at Bayer in 1988. He joined the Board of Management in 2010 as Chief Financial Officer. From October 2014 until his appointment as Chairman of the Board of Management, he served as Chief Strategy and Portfolio Officer. On May 1, 2016, Werner Baumann became Chairman of the Board of Management (CEO) of Bayer AG.
