Anja Rubik

Top model, social activist

As far as the world of fashion goes, she has already achieved everything. She has been on the catwalk wearing the world’s most legendary designers. She has appeared on the covers of the most prestigious magazines. She has designed a few of her own collections and headed up the artistic “Magazyn 25” periodical. This, however, is just one of the faces she wears. Anja Rubik, celebrity and supermodel, has also been an extremely involved environmental and social activist for many years – she is publishing a book, intended for young people, entitled “#SEXEDPL”. Her incredible, eighteen-year career in the fashion industry is a story of success from start to finish – one that sets her apart from others working in this industry. Anja Rubik was a muse of legendary fashion designer Karol Lagerfeld. She has participated in campaigns for top brands such as Chloe, Gucci, Chanel, Valentino, Estée Lauder, Versace or Yves Saint Laurent. She has been featured on the cover of countless magazines including several appearances on the cover of “Vogue”. Her work as a cover model and catwalk star are just two aspects of her creative activities. Ms. Rubik has also created numerous projects and collections in cooperation with fashion brands – this includes her “Original by Anja Rubik” scent. She has also been involved with the artistic community for many years. As the founder and editor-in-chief of the “Magazyn 25” periodical she was the creative force behind photographers and artists from around the world. She is also a curator of the Art & Fashion Forum. Anja Rubik is also one of those people who use their popularity to initiate a discussion on currently relevant topic. She has been involved in promoting social and environmental issues for many years. Among her many achievements in this department is her work with Parley – an organization which creates global campaigns about protecting our oceans and the importance of building a sustainable future. This year, on the 8th of June, she gave a speech, at UN headquarters in New York City, on the problem of polluting our oceans with plastic. In 2017 she created #SEXEDPL – a campaign, involving, among others, Monika Brodka, Maffashion, Robert Biedroń and Maciej Stuhr, which was widely talked about across the country. The next step in this campaign is the publication of nonprofit book that answers the most frequently asked question regarding sex ed in a modern, fact-based and user-friendly way. For the purposes of this book Ms. Rubik interviewed several dozen experts, both male and female, asking them to openly answer question regarding topics that, in today’s Poland, are considered to be ‘taboo’. This solid dose of knowledge is served up in straightforward, friendly and specific way. Anja Rubik has been crossing boarders for many years – between the world or fashion and art, between the world of a model and artist to a world of important social and environment issue. Her projects are proof of her incredible involvement and creativity. She is a woman who breaks patterns, dismisses stereotypes and courageously fights for the things she believes in.
